About my design practice
Michael Seddon Studio is my furniture design practice, based in Coburg North, Melbourne (Naarm) Australia. I focus on designing and making solid timber furniture along with lighting and small homeware items. Pieces are crafted using traditional joinery techniques, creating long lasting products that I hope can become cherished additions to your home.
"My practice focuses on hand crafted timber pieces that relish in a pared back and simple aesthetic, ethically designed to last."
My workshop is based on the lands of The Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people and I would like to acknowledge that these lands were never ceded and they remain the traditional owners of these lands and waterways.
Making ethical and environmentally conscious decisions is at the forefront of my work. I also acknowledge that the act of creating new objects in a world full of ‘stuff’ is a fraught process. I undertake to make items of quality that will stand the test of time using materials and processes that will extend the life of these loved items and enable their future repair. I also commit to constant improvement in all these aspects; to learn and grow through doing.
